"Happy Fiesta, Viva Vigan! ... but make it COVID-friendly ;D"

The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion St. Paul the Apostle. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27.

Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan, as it is the costum of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. They are joined by thousands of visitors from other parts of the Philippines and other countries in enjoying the cultural shows, parades and street dancing prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival.

But now, in accordance to the new normal, the government has changed and limited the fiesta's activities. Such as when on the 22nd of January, the Vigan Longganisa Cookfest was held at Mira Hills Fil-Spanish Friendship Park, where both judges and participants wore face masks, face shields, and followed social distancing guidelines,

as well as doing trivia nights in Vigan City's FB homepage to celebrate our Fiesta.  This is all to ensure the safety and well-being of our people, and to prevent any more cases.

We are in trying times, activities like fiestas and activities will bound to have some changes to adapt to our new normal. It is necessary because it is for own safety and for the country to heal faster. Let's not be selfish when our situation has put our well-being at risk.
