"Why SHOULD We Restore our Ecosystems?"

Ecosystem degradation has emerged as one of the biggest environmental threats around the world over the last three decades. Almost all our ecosystems, terrestrial or otherwise, stand degraded to varying degrees due to a mix of factors such as developmental pressures, population growth, over-exploitation, and many others.

Ecosystems are in a constant state of evolution. So Ecological restoration is the process of assisting the recovery of an ecosystem that has been degraded, damaged or destroyed. Hence why we restore ecosystems to assist to recover to its pre-degradation trajectory. Ecosystem Restoration should be an important component of conservation and sustainable development programs so that the livelihoods of people depending on these degraded ecosystems can be sustained. We live in reliance to our nature. Which is why we should care for it in return because of what it has given us. You don't need a lot of money in helping the restoration of ecosystems. It can be done in simple actions. If these simple actions are done by everyone then it would give a big contribution and change to our ecosystems. Things like planting trees, cleaning up riverbanks, doing the 3 R's and waste segregation, or just simply giving nature space to recover, increases their benefits to society and biodiversity.

Restoring natural capital such as drinkable water or wildlife populations. Helping human communities and the ecosystems upon which they depend adapt to the impacts of climate change. Restoring ecosystems are not just whimsy; it is a crucial necessity. We MUST restore and preserve the natural world because we live in it. Every one of us, even other animals and plants need a healthy Earth to support our livelihoods, health, and survival.
